What was your favourite wedding day moment:
Walking down the isle!!
After saying our goodbyes Thursday night I really couldn’t wait to see Lee standing at the alter the next day. Us girls had such a chilled and fun morning getting ready, I surprised myself how calm I was. Then all of a sudden our photographer Karen arrived and it all got very real and was time to get dressed. It was an amazing feeling seeing myself with my hair and make up done and in my dress, everything had come together so perfectly. We left on time to head to the ceremony, my Dad and I in the car together. As soon as I got out of the car, I could see Lee in the distance and the tears started! I had been so good all day but at this moment I fell apart! I wasn’t nervous, I was just so excited and overwhelmed. As the bridesmaids walked down one by one with Dad and I to follow, we actually missed our cue to starting walking! And when we did start to walk, I was basically running and Dad pulled me back and said ‘slow down girlie’. It was such a special moment walking down the isle with my Dad towards the man that I was going spend the rest of my life with.
Why did you choose Noosa Boathouse for your special day:
We liked the idea of a destination wedding without needing to leave the country as we knew that all our guests would be travelling. Having lived in Brisbane for several years, we had always loved the sunshine coast area. After about a week of being engaged, I began researching wedding locations on the sunshine coast, Noosa was the first location to pop up. We looked over a few reception venues but decided on the Noosa Boathouse for a few reasons. We loved that its on the river, as it was a nice link to our childhood with both of us growing up on the Murray River. We ended up booking the Boathouse without seeing it ourselves! We looked through photos and also sent my sister to have a look. She reported back to us saying The River Room was exactly like in photos, a great sized room with a great bar, amazing floor to ceiling widows, water views and a private balcony too. I really wanted a reception area that spoke for itself and needed minimal decoration to make it special and this is exactly the River Room. From the very first contact, the Event Manager Tahlia, was amazing, so helpful and attentive. I sent a million emails on a daily basis with endless questions and it was never an issue, always getting quick responses with answers, suggestions and guidance to make our reception be perfect.
And perfection on the day is what we got. From the staff, the food and the drink service nothing was too much trouble. Our ceremony actually got rained out, and we didn’t really know what to do, so I rang through to say that the bridal party were on the way. The staff went above and beyond to welcome us even though it wasn’t the plan for us to be there so early. They served us drinks, let us dry off and regroup which we were so thankful for. All our guests raved about how awesome our reception was which makes all the handwork and stress worth it.
What advice would you give to brides looking to marry in Noosa:
DO IT!!! Noosa is such a great place! We had such a relaxed lead up to the wedding and also a great few days celebrating afterwards. There is so much to do. And we really loved having both the beach and river. We would go to the beach for a swim in the mornings and then sit along the river most afternoons with nibbles and wine watching the sunset. And the food! Yum! There is so many delicious restaurants and cafes!
Wedding wise my advice is – Don’t stress the small stuff. At the start of our planning, I had big plans and you can easily go crazy but it also gets all very expensive. My views changes half way through the planning process and I realised that the day wasn’t about what your centre pieces were or whether you had window and chair covers etc etc… Its about you and your partner, being surrounded by your family and friends, eating good food, having a drink and celebrating being in LOVE! Having good vendors also really helps with the planning process.
